Jack is 8 weeks old and a visit with friends and more!

We have had a busy last few weeks with many visitors and Jack had his 2 month check up at the pediatricians office. We could not believe it but Jack is no longer a tiny peanut...he is a tank! As a reminder, Jack was 6lbs 14oz and 20 inches long at birth. At 7 weeks, Jack weighed in at 11 lbs 6 oz and 23 1/2 inches long. He had a very long month of a growth spurt! Our doc said most babies gain 2 lbs...not our Jack 3.5 since the last visit. He weighed 8lbs at his one month visit. I think he may be drinking a milkshake at every feeding! He is growing and changing so much. We want him to slow down...yet he just gets cuter and cuter by the day too. He has just begun to smile at us and is starting to make these cute little noises. We are amazed by him everyday. It is wonderful being his mom!

Jack loves to relax in is vibrating chair. He is learning to make bubbles with his tongue and is always playing with it and now sticking his hands in his mouth too!
Ginny came from New York and made a stop to meet Jack! She is wonder woman and visited so many people in her short trip to CA. We miss you Ginny and hope to see you soon!
I came downstairs to find Josh and Jack snuggled up on the couch together. It was so cute I had to snap a few pics!
Jack's adorable smile as he played on his play mat! He kicks his arms and legs all over the place and smiles at his toys too. He is just so CUTE!
Stephanie with her son Liam (left) and pregnant with a little girl due in Oct. and Nicole with her little girl Chloe (4 months) came to meet Jack. We enjoyed their company and seeing the babies together. Thanks for the lunch too Nicole and Vince!

It was really fun to have the girls and their kiddos over to visit. We were able to see what Jack will being soon by watching Chloe and Liam is a walking machine. There will need to be a lot of baby proofing and rearranging when it comes time for Jack to crawl and walk. Liam is very cute and a busy boy.

It has been a very fast and busy few weeks. Life is getting a little easier...or maybe we are just figuring parenthood out a bit more and we have out and about a lot lately. It has been fun and we are loving our time exploring as a family.

Jack is almost 6 weeks!

The time has gone by so quickly and Jack will be 6 weeks old on Friday. He has changed so much and we are still amazed all the time. He had his first visit from his Grammy and Grandpa from Iowa...they were here for a week. Jack has battled a bad bout of baby acne, is learning to scream well!, slowly is figuring out his out of control hands and eats like a champ to name a few of his accomplishments over the past few weeks.

Josh has been home for the pat 3 weeks and it has been not only nice to have him there to help but most of all for him to bond with Jack. They have spent many mornings napping together and Jack loves to sleep on his chest. It is very sweet to see! We still fight over who gets him when he is awake and somehow when he is screaming...I always win! Gotta love it.

Jack is a month old!
Grammy and Grandpa Glandorf from Iowa
Jack's first nap in his crib...he looks so small in his crib!
Jack loves to take a bath. Sometimes when he is really fussy we just sit him in some warm water and he always calms down...well for a while at least! He loves to have the water poured over his head and just looks around at everything. The pic above is Jack after his bath...he is always kicking his legs around and is so happy! The pic below is Jack relaxing in his whale tub. And he was so proper when we took the pic..somewhat had his legs crossed!

Jack's First Few Weeks

I know this has taken me forever to post a few pics of our precious Jack but between learning how to be a new mom and figuring out how to shrink the size of pictures, well it has taken me a while. I plan to post a few new pics each week or at least every 2 weeks...but this time it has taken me a bit longer...sorry to the grandmas who have been waiting for the newest pics!

Our first few weeks have been fun but a challenge learning how to be parents! They didn't send us home with an instruction manual!!!!! We have to learn what his cries are for and what he needs but we are managing and loving every minute of being his mom and dad. Jack is a very sweet baby and his many poses and faces are so adorable. We fight over him all the time as we both love to hold, cuddle, stare and love him more than we can explain! It is an amazing experience!

We had a visit with the pediatrician yesterday and Jack is up to 8lbs already and thriving. She said that usually babies gain a pound by this visit but he was up 1.5lbs. I laughed and figured at the rate he eats he is going to be huge! But Jack is doing well and our next visit is in a month.

Enjoy the pics of Jack. He is changing daily and growing up too fast for us!

After his first bath in the hospital...and one of his favorite poses
Josh and I love when he falls asleep on us like this, it is very precious
Such a cute face!
His favorite fluffy rug he takes naps on as well as another one of his poses he does when sleeping!
His first sponge bath at home...he did not like it but he loves his real baths now!

Jack's Nursery...Finally

These are very overdue but we wanted to post a few pics of his nursery for you to see. It is nautical and fish...all BOY! And we love it! Now hopefully he will grow up to love both!

The shelf above his rocking chair..and my favorite is the statue of the dad holding his son that one of Josh's coworkers gave to him as a gift.
The dresser and bookshelf filled with lots of good reading materials.

His adorable bedding...love the fish and boats!

And our favorite...the rocking chair and ottoman that we have spent many hours in already!

Progress to meeting baby Glandorf!

After the visit to the MD on Wednesday she said I was 1 cm dilated and 80% effaced! Yeah....getting so very close! But I was sent to Hoag for some additional fetal monitoring as we thought there was a chance I was leaking amniotic fluid. After a couple hours of monitoring and a sending a sample of the fluid down to the lab, I was discharged home and had to return on Thursday for more monitoring.

Josh and I wen t back to Hoag on Thursday for 3 more hours where we did additional monitoring on the baby as well as another measurement of the amniotic fluid level. The baby heart rate is great, I was having contractions every 2 mins....we thought we would have a baby soon...but then they stopped as I rolled from my right to left side. And although my amniotic fluid is a little lower than previous days, the MD's are not too concerned yet.

Hopefully this little guy will make his grand entrance very soon. We are eagerly waiting to meet him and for these funny little games he is playing to stop. So if we do not meet him in the next few days we will be back at the MD office on Monday and then again for some more monitoring! We will keep you updated.

Another Baby Shower...May 30th...just a delay in posting!

My mom, good family friend Jane and her daughter Cherise threw me and our soon-to-be baby boy a friends and family baby shower. It was a lot of fun and very beautiful. I was able to visit with so many friends and some I had not seen in a while...it was so nice. There was great food and way too many gifts...THANKS to you all our son is more than set and ready to be welcomed to this world. I didn't know a baby needed so many things to survive. And of course some things are not essentials but just fun to have and enjoy.

From left Cherise with her daughter MacKenzie, Jane, Me and Danielle (Jane's older daughter)

I am very delayed in posting this update but since the shower baby and I have been doing well. Josh and I have been working hard at finishing the nursery and getting all the last supplies we think we need. I had my first appt to check how baby has progressed this past Monday and I am at 1cm and my doctor could feel his head..YEAH! We are making progress to meeting this little guy! I go back to the doctor tomorrow and will post another update with details after the visit! Hopefully he will have made more progress towards entering this world...we cannot wait to meet him!
